What makes Fernie special to you?
Fernie is special to me because I really like downhill mountain biking and snowboarding and to get to the ski hill. All I have to do is just drive 5 minutes and I’m there, to me that is very special. I have lots of great friends, it feels safe when I’m out and around town. Fernie holds some great events, like music festivals, the colour run and the freestyle ski competitions. I have not lived anywhere else, but to me I think that it would be hard to beat.
What makes you proud to be Canadian?
I have the freedom to make my own choices and do what I want to do. I am very thankful for the clean water I can drink and the fresh air every day. I can feel safe in my country. I am also able to travel outside of Canada because Canada is respected. I choose to live in the mountains, but I could also live by the ocean, prairies or in the city. Canada has everything.
What is your Fernie story?
I’m a 13 year old boy that is in grade 8, I was born here and grew up here all my life. My dad is from England and my mom is from Quebec. I have 3 younger sisters and I play in the Fernie Junior Ghostriders bantam hockey team. I walk to school and every day I am very active with all my sports and activities. I really enjoy hanging with my friends and hope that we can stay and work in Fernie for a long time.
