What makes Fernie special to you?

Fernie is special to me because it has everything I love. Whether it’s youth soccer, Falcon’s basketball, an awesome school, my best friends or the ski hill, Fernie has it. I really enjoy Fernie’s atmosphere. Wherever I go, there is always someone to say that I have grown so much since I last saw them. I think that is really special.

What makes you proud to be Canadian?

Canada is the best country in the world! We give to others, we take pride in our actions, we stand up for what is right, and we let people into our country with open arms. We also learn from our mistakes. In 2008 the TRC was established and as a nation, we said sorry to indigenous peoples for treating them poorly in the past. This makes me proud to be Canadian.

What is your Fernie story?

I was born in Banff AB. and lived in Canmore AB. until I was two. I lived on Vancouver Island for a couple of years and then I moved to Fernie in 2007. I was four years old. My Mom and Dad got married here. After that my little brother Winston was born. We then moved to a different house, where my baby sister Carolina was born. Now I live in Hosmer with two great parents, two fun younger siblings, and our puppy. I attend Fernie Secondary School and I’ll graduate in 2021. I’ll have to leave Fernie to go to college, and I know I’ll feel good about calling this place my hometown.
